Story Updates: July 2023 – For Realsies This Time!

Hello! No, you are NOT mistaken. ZNN story updates are back! For those curious why, and why we’ve been absent for so long, in short:

When I took over the fic-readings a year or two ago, it was stated that they were run by a different department and that they’d be returning from there. Then, when irl reasons precluded that and it was suggested the pre-reading department take over, I asked how and we were told there was a tool used to compile these updates and that I would be provided with it and informed on its use in due course…

And, after a few repeated years and proddings, it seems the great ZNN SNAFU has been kicked into gear and we are up and functional baby! Upper management would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused, and has stated that she is not going all out on the Mr Lagopus strangling given that my mail-order ‘Medieval Dungeon Deluxe set with extra-stretchy rack’ has yet to be delivered.

In any case, there are likely still a few little bugs in the system, but fingers crossed we’ll get things going again shortly. Given the rate of fic updates, we’ll most likely stick to monthly updates at the moment, which I feel I can handle and will keep people informed. Should things pick up (e.g. via a sequel release) then we might bring on more staff and help, going back to weekly updates once more.

Finally, I chose to include in this announcement a representation of those fics previously missed, as best as possible. Some mega fics have released bi-weekly updates in all this time, others just the one or two. We’ve even lost two fics, the authors choosing to take them down. As a result, I felt it impractical to list every single newly released chapter for every single fic. Instead, every fic that we believe has updated is featured, with a simple link to the first chapter. We’ll also include those fics that have completed in this time period up front.

Finally, given the recent news, I felt it apt to feature the late great Alps Sarsis’ fic, Guardian Blue Season 3, at the top. While not, and potentially never, completed, it carried on strong since the last fic update post and I think deserves its place.

It’s good to be back, and hopefully we won’t have such a hiatus going on in the future. Thankyou, and let’s kick it off with 6 completed fic!
