Comic: Don't Mess with Finnick (by Nik159)

Nick might be a sly fox, but he couldn't have pulled off his jumbo pop hustle without the assistance of his friend and cohort, Finnick!  He's a straight-up gangsta, so let's end off the year with a solid piece of advice to remember in 2018- Don't mess with Finnick!

Brought to us by Nik159, this comic proves that you don't pick a fight with someone just because they're smaller.  The consequences may be... painful.

Art by OceRydia
[Rating T13][Humor][OC]

Sit back and crack open some brews to get yourself in the mood for this one – a fun, lighthearted and easygoing story that will enliven your senses and provide an endless supply of laughs and good cheer. Originally a part of Cimar's What If? Collaboration Project, "Barkeeps" is a great endeavor from author Bluelighthouse that contains his usual brand of humor, most of which pushes the envelope of the word "wacky," and features a sizable number of Nick and Judy's compadres, including their coworkers and a variety of OCs created by other members in the online Zootopia community. So, if you're looking for a good time, the 10-7 is the place for you! ~DrummerMax64

Comic Dub: You Need More Practice (dub by the ZDC)

MissMekoPete's Robin Hood / Zootopia Crossover comic "You Need More Practice" is a classic at this point.  There's something just timeless about Nick and Judy that fits in all sorts of different situations and time periods, and the idea of Nick's parents being Robin Hood and Maid Marian brings a smile to my face.

So, this classic comic getting a dub from the Zootopia Dubbing Channel is an awesome development.  Starring Jacob Conflitti as Nick and CreativeMultiTasker as Judy (with one of ZNN's founding members, Tomlocke, as Robin Hood and FutureInspirationManifestation as Marian) and editing by Scootakip, the ZDC did some great work this time around!  Looking forward to more projects coming from them in the future!

Nick and Judy by Conqista
Source [1]
The past two years have been very interesting when it comes to movies, haven't they?  A Disney movie about a rabbit cop did better than what should have been one of the most epic showdowns in all of history- Batman vs. Superman.  Heck, the only superhero movie that did better in the box office than Zootopia these past two years was Captain America: Civil War- and that may as well have been titled "The Avengers 3"

Either way, we've got an assortment of stuff for you here today, so check out the artists by following the source links, and get your art after the break!

Story: When The Stars Wish Me Dead

Art by cabbaj
[Rating T13][Crime][Hurt][Comfort][OC][Incomplete]

Crafting a well-done OC-based fanfic enticing to casual fans despite a shifted focus from that property's main characters is no easy task in any fandom. Luckily, Cabbaj is no ordinary writer, and "When the Stars Wish Me Dead" is no ordinary story. Follow young maned wolf Jay through a series of events upon his return to Zootopia that finds him reconnecting with old friends, crossing paths with Officer Nick Wilde (and getting paid a mighty fine compliment in the process) and generally figuring out life -- all the while finding himself amid a dangerous game played by a ruthless serial killer who seems to have an eye for Jay. You're gonna have trouble putting this one down. Mild language/violence within. ~YFWE

Author: cabbaj
Description : Why do we exist? Up in the sky among the stars is where Jay looks for his answers. Follow the young maned wolf through Zootopia with his friends as he copes with everyday struggles. But as a dangerous serial killer starts to leave a trail of blood, Jay has to realize that the stars won't be always there to help him.

Happy Birthday Byron Howard!

Art by Joaoppereiraus
Today is Byron Howard's Birthday!  For those of you who have no idea who this is... welcome to ZNN.  We're all about Zootopia.  Which was directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore.  He's also co-directed Bolt and Tangled. There was a huge team of wonderfully talented people who made Zootopia, but Byron was the one who got the ball rolling and saw it through to the end, from 2011 to 2016.

So, Happy Birthday, Byron!  Even though it's getting close to two years since Zootopia first released, we're still just as in love with the world you created as we were when we first saw it in theaters!  And even if you aren't currently working on a sequel (hey, we can hope!) we'll certainly be there to support any future projects you do!

Go wish him a happy birthday over on twitter @ByronPHoward!

Return to Zootopia, Episode 2: A New Case

It's time for Part 2 of Browntable Entertainment's "Return to Zootopia"!  When we left off, things were going about as well as you could expect at the ZPD.  One case closes, and another one opens.

Now, Nick and Judy are looking into a robbery that turned violent and left a mammal hospitalized.  Who could have done this, and why?  The plot thickens.

Kudos to CreativeMultiTasker  (Judy Hopps) and Mauricio Velazco (Nick Wilde) for their excellent performance!  Clocking it at just over 18 minutes, this is one video you don't want to miss.  If you want up-to-date info on the project, be sure to subscribe to Browntable Entertainment!

Comic Dub: A Witty Fox (by MickelPicklel and CasVoiceActs)

Hmm... after writing that, I'm wondering, what would the Twelve Days of Christmas be in Zootopia?  Share your ideas in the comments.  I'll add edits to this article as you give suggestions.

In the meantime, we've got a special comic dub for you from MickelPickel and CasVoiceActs!  Based on the comic we featured a week or two ago from Frava8, this is a sweet, yet funny, little scene that I could totally see Nick doing if Disney ever did a Christmas short in Zootopia.

Story: Between the Lines

Art by TheWaywardKid
[Rating T13][Friendship][Romance][Drama]

It's no secret to any fans of Zootopia that Nick and Judy have authentic chemistry, a steadfast bond between them that can withstand all sorts of challenges, including prejudice and heartbreak. Taking place directly after the hustle at the natural history museum, this marvelous story shows that this bond of theirs still has a ways to go before they become partners on the force. There's cute and fluffy moments aplenty, but whenever the story needs to shift emotional gears, it isn't afraid to get down and dirty with the serious matters. Mostly upbeat and abounding with fantastic character growth, "Between the Lines" is a meaningful, uplifting work that's as heartfelt as it is ebullient, and effortlessly demonstrates what makes WildeHopps so great. ~DrummerMax64

Author: RemyW
Description : Ever wonder what happened between the museum hustle and Nick's graduation? Filled with hilarious banter and heartwarming moments, follow Nick and Judy as they learn to trust one another and build a friendship despite their differences. As their bond deepens, tensions rise and chemistry flares. But they're just really good friends, right?

150 Artwork of the Day posts.....

Wow, time for sure goes fast without us noticing, isn't it? From the beginning of my career as a member of ZNN, I was always fascinated by many many pics of fans of Zootopia showing why Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde is the best cute couple ever existed.  On the surface they're complete opposites, but their chemistry and personality works so well together.  They could stay friends forever, sure.  But they could also just as easily become something more.

To celebrate the 150th Art of the day, here we have the 50 of my favorite Artworks of our favorite ship: WildeHopps!

ZNN Merch Review - ZPD Cruiser Playset

Happy holidays fellow Zootopians! It's Surrika, the Meerkat of Merch, coming at you with another review just in time for Christmas!  But this time, things are going to be a little different. You see for the most part my reviews have been mostly positive, with the exception of The Magical Story book review (which you can read here).

This time, I am going to be reviewing one of the cheapest and tackiest pieces of merch that I think ever hit the shelves. No, I am not talking about Nick's mysterious red convertible (yet).  I am instead going to be talking about the electronic ZPD Cruiser.

The RESULTS of NaZoWriMo 2017!

Tribute to Fanfiction by Zeigelzeig
Hello ladies and gentlemammals!  Today we've got something very exciting to share with you: the results of the 2017 National Zootopia Writing Month (or NaZoWriMo for short)!  For those of you who missed it, this last November we challenged everyone in the fandom to see if they could write a novel-length story in exactly one month.  As a bonus incentive, we offered to get a physical copy made of whatever stories cross the 50,000 word threshold.  To make sure we didn't make the same mistakes we made last year, we brought on some temporary pre-readers for this occasion so that we could make sure all the stories got read and reviewed before Christmas.

Well, I'm pleased to announce that we've reached all of those goals, and that two of the stories submitted to us this year passed the 50k mark!  Congratulations to TorturedArtist745 and J Shute Norway for reaching that goal!  A lot of work went into it, but your dedication to the craft shows!  Special shout-out to Lucario389 for organizing and coordinating this event- we couldn't have done it without you!

The entries, in order of final word length
A Lead Role in a Cage by J Shute Norway - 51,448 words
No Bats Allowed by TorturedArtist745 - 50,109 words
Bound By Steel by D3ath ops - 24,732 words

Thank you so much for participating!  That's not all we have, though- check out after the break for our in-depth reviews of all these stories, and why reading them is definitely worth your time!  In the meantime, we're looking forward to another wonderful year of Zootopia, full of even more fun events like this one!

The Morality of Abortion as Portrayed in IWS

Greetings, ZNN readers. I’m Dr. Trevor Hedberg, also known as WildeCard. If you follow this site carefully, you might remember me as the philosopher who was using Zootopia in some of his applied ethics courses. A while back, I accepted an invitation from Andy to share some further thoughts on the film in future posts. But that was before borba’s I Will Survive made the rounds on the internet. Now I find myself in the strange position of commenting on the morality of abortion as portrayed in a Zootopia fan comic. Philosophers are no strangers to weird topics of conversation – whether it be brains in vats or life-imperiling scenarios involving runaway trolleys – but even by our standards, this is pretty unusual.

Now this isn’t a post defending any particular view on abortion. Rather, I want to look at how the two views in the debate were presented and why their presentation was so apt to make people angry. I also say a little bit about how we ought to discuss controversial issues of this sort, whether it be in unorthodox fan creations or elsewhere.

So if you want a breakdown of the comic’s portrayal of abortion or just want a little more insight into what made the comic so controversial, read on past the break.

Story: The Rehabilitation of Dawn Bellwether

Art by WastedTimeEE
[Rating T13][Drama][Romance][Complete]

What a wild ride! This fic has, without a doubt, the best incarnation of Dawn Bellwether that I've seen in the fandom. Remorseful for her actions and shunned by her peers, she gets out early for good behavior and tries to live a normal life. It delves deep into Bellwether's abused past and how she ended up with the wrong kind of mammals making wrong decisions. Her one hope, though comes from reconnecting with a long lost friend, and together, they might just make it. ~Mordecai

Author: WastedTimeEE
Description : It's been four years since the Night Howler scandal and Dawn Bellwether, now a free sheep, struggles to rejoin and redeem herself in the eyes of a world that sees her as a monster. Along the way she struggles adjusting to life outside, getting tangled in a new conspiracy, and finding friendship and more in a unexpected place.

IWS Aftermath and various other news

Source: Joaquin Baldwin, AN ANIMATOR WHO WORKED ON ZOOTOPIA
Well, the past week has certainly been interesting.  The I Will Survive Meme has come and seems to be going (hopefully), President Obama's executive order regarding Net Neutrality was overturned, and Revoltech announced they'll be doing more poseable Zootopia figures (which we'll be covering very soon, don't worry).

So, first things first- we at ZNN are fairly worried about what the lack of legal protection for the internet in the US will mean for the future.  Ideally, the big ISPs like Comcast and AT&T will seek to gain their profits from big sites like Netflix (which actually uses a HUGE chunk of broadband space, and account for over 1/3 of all downstream traffic in North America), and ignore little sites like us.  But, my guess is they'll start by rolling out new costs for all websites, where we would have to pay the ISPs to provide fast speeds to you, our viewers.  In order to prepare for that, we are looking into possible ways to monetize ZNN so that we can afford to keep things consistent for everybody, no matter where they live.  Don't worry, I don't plan on filling it with ads or anything like that- in fact, if you have any suggestions for ways we could do this without negatively affecting things for you, we'd love to hear about them in the comments.  In the meantime, please consider supporting us on Patreon if you aren't already.  That can help us be ready for whenever we start to see the effects of this change.  Thank you.

As for I Will Survive, as you can see in the cover image, Joaquin Baldwin, an actual Disney animator who worked on Zootopia, used the IWS meme to spread the word about Net Neutrality.  This is but one of many expertly made memes, but it goes further than that.  Since we last discussed it, even more online magazines and youtube channels have picked up on the meme.  Some of these include PewDiePie (yes, PEWDIEPIE), The RoundTable, and Romper.com. You can see it for yourself by following the links in the previous sentence, and we'll include the videos after the break.

However, this meme seems to be short-lived, capturing the internet's attention for about a week before dying off.  How do I know this?  Well, ZNN first discovered this was happening when we saw a sudden explosion of pageviews to the site (over 300,000 in one day!) and investigated.  Since last Wednesday, which is when The AV Club released their article about it, the pageviews have come in steadily decreasing waves.  We feel it's safe to say that the internet's collective attention has moved on to other things (such as net neutrality), so hopefully things will be back to normal within the fandom soon.

That said, if you discovered ZNN through the meme, you're more than welcome to stick around!  We'd love to hear from you!

We have one final post to make regarding I Will Survive, which should be coming later today, by a very special new member of the ZNN staff.  After that, unless something else completely unexpected happens, that should be the end of it.

So, what have you all thought about the sudden and unexpected spotlight that's been placed on the fandom?  Did you discover the zootopia fandom through it?  What are your thoughts overall?  Let us know down in the comments, and check out the videos I mentioned after the break.

Story: Whitfur's Gambit

Art by WordSPark37
[Rating T13][Crime][Mystery][Action][Complete]

Within the first few chapters of "Whitfur's Gambit," Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps are removed from the Zootopia police force by their own paw (or... mouth) -- and for good reason, because their latest case is one that'll take a decidedly unorthodox approach to solving. Luckily, they're the bunny and fox to solve it, though be wary; their friendship -- and budding relationship -- may not last the case. A strong effort from WordSPark37 that provides an entertaining mystery, well-written characters and a satisfying will-they-won't-they romance. ~YFWE

Author: WordSPark37
Description : A routine drug bust turns into Nick and Judy's biggest case since the notorious Nighthowler incident. Corruption, betrayal, murder and a dangerous new drug are just some of the things the famous duo will have to face off against as they struggle to bring justice back to their fair city. But will their friendship survive the hardships ahead?

Comic: A Witty Fox (by Frava8)

Amen to that, Nick!  It's time of year when we all get a reminder both of how pervasive consumerism is, and simultaneously how shallow and unfulfilling it is.  After all, in the words of one very wise Grinch, "Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store.  Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more."

This timely comic comes to us from Frava8, who absolutely NAILS nick and Judy's expressions, and delivers a fun punchline too.  Great work!

Art of the Day #147: Overwatch Special!

Zooverwatch by 杯具螺旋丸
Normally with Art of the Day posts we try to include a variety of artists.  However, today's a little different due to our posting tool undergoing maintenance.  While searching the internet, we discovered a FANTASTIC series of Overwatch crossover art from an incredibly talented artist named 杯具螺旋丸, which google translates as "Spiral Cup" or "Cup with Spiral Pills".

I have to say, some of these castings just work WAY too well, like Weaselton as Junkrat or Bellwether as Reaper.  Judy as Officer D.VA is a given, considering there were some people who thought the Officer D.VA skin was a reference to zootopia.

So, for today, rather than having each individual image having a caption with a source link, since they all have the same artist and source, you can find them over on Pixiv by following this link!

Check out their work after the break, and let us know what your favorite is down in the comments!

Story: Integrity, Trust, and Bravery: Villainous Intent

Art by Ziegelzeig
[Rating T13][Drama][Crime][Action][Romance][Sequel]

Assassins, unending danger and a nefarious cult. A terrifying trifecta to be sure, but it adds up to just another day at the office for our newly married rabbit and fox in this riveting sequel to Keftense's first Zootopia story that both ups the ante and gives readers another high-risk case to enjoy. It builds on the foundations of its predecessor in several exciting ways, heightening the suspense and getting us invested in characters old and new. And if the first story is any indication, a host of shocking twists and tearjerking scenes will be lying in wait for you when you least expect them. ~DrummerMax64

Author: Keftense
Description : After the Canals Incident, Nick and Judy got married and welcomed new faces into the ZPD from that night. The Shadow Cult...is dedicated to murder for hire and they are good...very good.

CaptainSparklez encounters a Zootopia Meme

Yes... you've been NickRolled
The sudden explosion of the I Will Survive meme has caused the internet at large to take notice of the Zootopia fandom, and as a result I'd say it's safe to define the past week as the "week of memes".

Well, before IWS, there was another zootopia-related image that went viral: someone abusing the poor Zootopia Facebook Page's comment bot by saying they wanted to kill themselves.  Since this happened, the Zootopia facebook page has had to either remove or modify their comment bot.  And, due to all the people trying to replicate this meme, we had to stop replying to messages on the ZNN Facebook page as well.  There are only so many ways you can respond to a joke like that before it just gets tiring, after all.

Nevertheless, the screenshots of a bot-chat-gone-wrong made it to r/softwaregore, and CaptainSparklez made a video of his reactions to the past month on that subreddit.  His reaction is hilarious, so if you like that sort of thing I bet you'll get a kick out of it.

I Will Survive... The Memes!

It's rare you get to see a meme grow from the very start.  On Wednesday, Gavia Baker-Whitelaw (@Hello_Tailor), a writer at The Daily Dot, tweeted that they'd just discovered Borba's comic "I Will Survive".  Since then, that tweet has gained over 6,000 likes and over 2,500 retweets.  Other online news organizations like The AV Club have picked up on the story.

Then both the Twitter and Tumblr communities at large got their hands on it, and it has escalated to the point of being officially recognized by Know Your Meme.  Even the youtube channel Behind The Meme has covered it.  And Dorkly.  More and more people keep reporting on this.

As I pointed out in our initial post featuring I Will Survive, this is undoubtedly the most controversial comic to have ever come out of the fandom, so for it to suddenly gain the attention of the internet at large has been... well, things have been mixed.  On the one hand, it's great that so many people are discovering that there even is a sizable and dedicated Zootopia fandom that's separate from general Furry culture.  We welcome those people and invite them to take a look at some of the other magnificent things we have created.  In fact, here are a few of my personal favorites:

  • Music: When Can I Try Everything Again? - a Mashup of "Try Everything" and "When Can I See You Again" from Wreck-it-Ralph.  It works WAY too well, and set the stage for Mashin' Jams slow mixing of Try Everything with pretty much every pop song ever.  And they all work amazingly.  Alternatively, check out Dance Every Feeling!
  • Comics: Sunderance - A HUGE Alternate-Universe take on Zootopia set in a version of the city where Foxes are actually dominant, rather than being the underdogs we see in the movie.  It's dark, gritty, and packed full of action and political intrigue.  This is one of many examples where Artists and Authors come together to make a truly masterful comic.
  • Fanfics: Fallout Zootopia - a crossover that makes no sense on the surface, and uses almost exclusively original characters, but blends the two franchises together beautifully until it becomes one of the greatest stories that the fandom has produced.  Also comes in audiobook form, which is higher quality than most things I've heard from Audible.
  • News: Exclusive Interview with Byron Howard - The title says it all.  Byron Howard, the Director of Zootopia, gave us an exclusive interview to celebrate the one-year anniversary of ZNN.  It's one of the coolest things that we've ever featured, in my opinion.
And we have a LOT more where that came from!

On the downside, due to the controversial nature of the comic, its sudden meme status has sparked some rather heated discussions.  I'm glad to say that for the most part people have kept it civil, but there are those who have taken to attacking Borba directly for his work.  That's not cool.  Give criticism of the comic all you like, but don't attack the artist over it.  Please keep things constructive.  And please don't judge the zootopia fandom as a whole by a single work.  We have so much more to offer than that.

ZNN does not endorse Borba's views on abortion or any other topic that was brought up in I Will Survive (we are neutral on all topics of a controversial or political nature) but we do support artists who take risks.  Borba took a big risk with the subject matter of IWS, and I feel that deserves some recognition in general- especially considering the massive backlash against it by fans and non-fans of Zootopia alike.  Did his risk pay off?  That's ultimately for Borba to decide.  The Zootopia Fandom has already had these discussions months ago when the comic first released, so this is old news to us.

In the meantime, we live in a reality where I Will Survive has become a meme.  And as is the case with all memes, some people have shown a real aptitude for creative and entertaining transformations of the original.  Here at ZNN we focus on the good, so check after the break for some of the better edits we've seen the past few days.

Story: Who Writes This?!

Art by Alps Sarsis
[Rating T13][Humor][Hurt/Comfort][Drama][Friendship][Fluff][Complete]

It doesn't get any more meta than this: a Zootopia fanfiction about reading Zootopia fanfiction. No joke, that's literally what this story is about. However, as silly of a premise as that sounds, Alps Sarsis capably manages to turn it on its head, resulting in a stirring story that catches you off guard – in a good way, that is. Surprisingly emotive and deftly told, "Who Writes This?!" is an excellent, thought-provoking read that doesn't skimp on the emotion, and gives Nick and Judy another thorny issue to take care of in their ever-growing friendship. Check it out and see what causes Judy to get so flustered. ~DrummerMax64

Author: Alps Sarsis
Description : When Judy finds herself irritated about being placed on low-risk assignments due to some media attention and increased celebrity at the close of a big case, Nick decides to tease her about her unwanted fame, pointing out that there's probably even a fan club online, or even fan fiction. Eager to prove her smug partner wrong, Judy looks online and finds that he's actually right, at least about the stories. Nick desperately pleads with Judy to leave it alone and not to read any of those stories. The bunny is offended that her partner feels she lacks the emotional maturity to objectively read a story about herself and decides to read them anyway. What could go wrong?

Zootopia is STILL one of the top ten movie fandoms on Tumblr!

Try Everything Chief by Jowybean
The annual Fandometrics report has released, where Tumblr makes big lists of the most active fandoms on the site based on various categories.  Well, despite the film being out for what's getting close to two years now (can you believe it?), Zootopia still soars above the rest.  In fact, there has only ever been one week that we didn't make it into the weekly top 20.

As a result of the fandoms unrivaled activity, Zootopia once again finds itself in the Top 10 Movie Fandoms across all of Tumblr, claiming the #7 spot!  The only other two films that appeared in the top 10 that were on also last year's list are Beauty and the Beast (which hadn't even released at the time of last year's annual review) and Moana (which had been out for about a week at that time).

All in all, this is some metric proof of the Zootopia fandom's dedication and longevity.  Your passion and loyalty are unrivaled among film fandoms, and I'm so glad to be a part of this.  Here's to another successful year of Zootopia!

Art of the Day #146

zootopia by 卜尔Q
Source [1]
Hi everyone! Christopher Guará here!

This month may not be the Academy season for obvious reasons, but they look good dressed as "Penguins" for any fancy event.

Am I the only one who would love to see Nick or Judy or any popular Zootopia character to announce the nominees and the winner for a certain category? Cause I know I'm not.

Let's have another season of artworks for now. Don't forget to check the link below the pictures. Enjoy!

Story: Lost

Art by badneko
[Rating K9][Drama][Hurt][Trauma][One-Shot]

The moments after young Nick Wilde's traumatic Junior Ranger Scouts experience are explored with an introspective, gently written one-shot that provides a satisfying link to one of the film universe's minor characters, with a glimmer of hope at the end of an altogether sad tale. "Lost" is a heartfelt, emotional and gratifying entry into the Nick-as-a-kid canon. ~YFWE

Author: Blenderguy15
Description : We all cope with pain differently. Some of us strive to overcome it or let it build them up to be better people. Some of us just let it happen and don't do anything about it. Others run away from it and let it crush them from the inside out. Nick Wilde has always been one to run away, and it all started on that fateful night at the Junior Ranger Scouts meeting.

Story Updates 5 December 2017

Is it just me, or are fics that haven't been updated in a long time starting to come back in full force? That's case with kaligos's crime-thriller "Families" and the veritable fluff-fest that is RedPen's "Fluff Pieces." Might just be a coincidence, or it could also have to do with the festive time of year.

Regardless, here's a great batch of stories for you all to enjoy. The authors in the fandom have been on fire lately! Not literally, of course. That would be very, very bad.

Updated Stories:
Families by kaligos
Roses are Red and Violence is Cool by IronicSnap
Fluff Pieces by RedPen (GardenVatiety)
Zootopia - In the Days That Followed by ayziks
Zootopian Vice by Lothar Hex
...And All That Jazz by WANMWAD
Take A Stand: Star of Ceartais by Garouge Faux/Crewefox

Comic: Confession, Chapters 10 - 12 (Finale!) (By Peanut.K)

It's been a good... almost 6 months... since we last featured this comic.  Sorry about that!  To make up for it, here are the last three parts all in one.  The artist has already started a sequel, so we're really behind here...

I always love to see artists grow and progress as time goes on.  Peanut.K's art started out a bit rough, but as Confession has progressed you can see their style begin to fully develop into something quite charming to look at!  Support it with a good story and you've got me hooked.

You can find all the previous parts here:
Now then, let's wrap this series up with the last three parts: Recovering, Being Honest, and New Day!
Check them out on Tumblr, or after the break!

Even More Zootopia Ornaments!

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat, would you please put a penny in the meter maid's hat...

That's right, there are other Zootopia Christmas ornaments like the ones from Lenox we showed you last week!  Brought to us by Hallmark, this one seems to use a similar base to the gilded one from Lenox, but if you can't find the shiny one then this one is a great alternative.  It even appears to be hand-painted, according to Paquero, who sent us the info about both of these ornaments (keep the submissions coming folks, we can't be expected to know everything that happens instantaneously!).

Check it out over at Hallmark.com and pick one up today if you haven't already!

Story: Zootopia and Earth: Gotterdammerung

Art by Saber-Cow
[Rating T13][Adventure][Romance][Sci-Fi]

Wew, this one is different. Most human-in-Zootopia stories have the humans transform through scientific or magical means, but this fic delves into the sociopolitical ramifications of an actual alternate universe. When the Chinese government discovers a massive energy reserve in their country is actually a portal to another world, a battle for power ensues, and a select few flee from the chaos into the portal itself. How would Zootopians react to actual humans, and vice versa? This is a dense one, and not your typical Zootopia story. ~Mordecai

Author: Pudong
Description : In this story set 2 years after the movie, a bureau of the Zootopian Government finds themselves in contact with an unworldly entity known as the "humans". Wicked intentions among those in power rise with their arrival, but will the truth be too much for them to bear? Nick and Judy are soon caught up in the chaos, but will they be able to save the city they love with new friends?

Comic: Nick Shenanigans 3 (by TheBlueberryCarrots)

...Nick?  What the heck are you doing?  That's not how arrests work.  Unless you're a-resting on the hood or something.

Puns and lame jokes are my bread and butter, ladies and gentlemammals. And today, we've got another stellar one for you in short comic form!  Brought to us by TheBlueberryCarrots, I couldn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes straight after I first saw it.  It's wonderful.  And that's all I'm going to say, since I don't want to ruin the punchline.

Check it out over on TheBlueberryCarrots' Tumblr, or after the break!

Art of the Day #145- Disney Afternoon Special!

Best Furry Movie by grrrwolf
Source [1]
Disney.  A studio that's not only survived for 94 years, but thrived.  They're a global powerhouse in media entertainment.  Sure, they've had their dips and breaks, and their future isn't always certain, but they've managed time and time again to pick themselves back up and keep going.  Now they make billions in the box office every year, sometimes from a single film like Zootopia.  And it all started with a mouse.

Every so often it's great to see how you all imagine interactions between the cast of Zootopia and that of other Disney films would interact, and so today we've got just that- Disney crossovers!

Band arrangement of Try Everything! (by Matt Conaway)

La Guitarrista by TheWinterBunny
Who else would love to hear Try Everything performed at a large band or symphony concert?  I know I would!

The Hal Leonard Company (who make a lot of sheet music for school bands and other music books), with an arrangement by Matt Conaway, have put together just such a thing.  You can purchase the sheet music from their website, (though in my opinion it's seriously overpriced) and listen to this arrangement after the break!

Comic AND Dub: Looks kinda Muggy

Oh Nick.  You shouldn't be ashamed.  A joke is worth a thousand stitches, after all.

...wait, that's not the right phrase.

This hilarious comic comes to us from Lucky13Spirits, and a dubbed version comes to us from CasVoiceActs and MickelPickleVA!  I'm not going to ruin the punchline, so that's all I can really say.

Check out the comic over on Deviantart, and get the comic and dub after the break!

Story: By The Seat Of Her Pants

Art by Mancoin
[Rating T13][Humor][Action][Friendship][One-shot]

This... is a quirky one. Let's just cut to the chase: due to some less than fortunate circumstances, Judy is forced to catch a perp while in her panties. Yep, it's a silly scenario, but Cloperella succeeds in making it a wildly entertaining one. Fair warning: this one-shot does contain some suggestive content, including several descriptions pertaining to one of Judy's, ahem, assets. Regardless, "By The Seat Of Her Pants" is a diverting, frenzied piece of action and comedy that revels in its ridiculousness and provides a jaw-dropping foot chase to boot – in more ways than one. ~DrummerMax64

Author: Cloperella
Description : While Judy Hopps enjoys her day off shopping for clothes alongside her best friend Nick Wilde, she encounters a petty shoplifter trying to leave with an unpaid item. Even on her day off, no crime is too small for Officer Hopps, and she gives chase to the thief all the way to the outer rim of the Rainforest. The uncultivated thicket of trees and bramble take a toll on her outfit, and after a daring leap through the air, the rabbit finds herself snagged by her pants on a tree branch. She's not letting a lawbreaker get away though -- even if it means she has to chase him all the way to Savanna Central in her underwear.
