Story: The Rehabilitation of Dawn Bellwether

What a wild ride! This fic has, without a doubt, the best incarnation of Dawn Bellwether that I’ve seen in the fandom. Remorseful for her actions and shunned by her peers, she gets out early for good behavior and tries to live a normal life. It delves deep into Bellwether’s abused past and how she ended up with the wrong kind of mammals making wrong decisions. Her one hope, though comes from reconnecting with a long lost friend, and together, they might just make it. ~Mordecai

Description :
It’s been four years since the Night Howler scandal and Dawn Bellwether, now a free sheep, struggles to rejoin and redeem herself in the eyes of a world that sees her as a monster. Along the way she struggles adjusting to life outside, getting tangled in a new conspiracy, and finding friendship and more in a unexpected place.

  1. This is a decent tale that features a redemptive character arc for Bellwether. It's well-written and features a nice romantic angle. However, I found it very difficult to reconcile the "misguided but decent" Bellwether in this story with the Bellwether presented in the museum scene who intentionally shot Nick with the Nighthowler serum, then waited at the pit's edge to watch Nick kill Judy and even gave a satisfied smirk when Nick appeared to clamp onto Judy's throat complete with the line "Bye Bye Bunny".

You will need to overlook this scene and ignore the creative team's comments that Bellwether was intended to be the evil big bad in order to fully buy into this tale.

    • Personally I justified it with Judy and Nick being the last loose ends before she has a straight road to her view of a better world. Mad with power. Not only a mayor but gets to look down at em both while she thinks she has everything covered. But thats just me

  2. I personally love this story. Its nice to see one from the perspective of the other side with a twist on it. Its good story and a departure from the usual Nick and Judy focused stories. And yes I also agree, It makes dawn look cute.
