Interviews from Zootopia 2 Press Day!

via The Laughing Place

Last week, we reported on how various reporters from different outlets had the opportunity to go to Walt Disney Animation Studios and get a special preview of Zootopia 2, as well as conduct interviews with the directors and other members of their team. Well, today, the embargo on those articles has lifted, and they’ve started publishing!

First up, we have an article by Tasha Robinson of Polygon, interviewing Michael Giacchino about the music and score of the film. It’s a great read, all about how they asked him to make the music more energetic and sillier at the appropriate times. Given how silly the names of the tracks were for the first movie, I can’t wait to read the track list for this one, or hear his work in action. One highlight is this quote:

But there is no such thing as ‘No’ on this score. It was always, ‘Yes, use that!’ Or if someone did something weird, Jared would just go [demonic voice] ‘Yesssss.’ – Michael Giacchino

Next, we have The Laughing Place, a dedicated Disney blog, which got an interview with directors Byron Howard and Jared Bush, as well as Heads of Story Carrie Liao and David Vantuyle, Head of Animation Chad Sellers, and Producer Yvett Mereno!

We also have an interview by Alyssa Brook Lee from WHO LET US OUT, a movie news site, which features both an article and video interview with all the same people as above plus Head of Animation Kira Lethomaki.

Finally, we have Jamie Broadnax of Black Nerd Girls, who also cover movie news on their site of the same name. Check out their interview with the crew down below!

  1. I’m so torn, because they talk a lot about a third movie in the questions, but the answers are just SO vague and troubling, with a lot of shrugs or sort of waving off the question as a whole. I already would love a third movie, but I don’t get the feeling that it’s on their minds? Anyone else? Or do other people have more hope than I do. Sincerely, I hope you do!

    • With a 2nd film not even out yet, it’s silly to commit to a third. Of course they’re not going to confirm anything until 2 sees success.
