Hello again, everybody.

For this week’s Art of the Day collection, we’re opening on something of a downer note.  Last week, both the Manga and Anime fandoms were saddened to learn of the passing of Akira Toriyama, creator of the Dragon Ball series, among several other gems.

Dragon Ball, along with its later iterations, (Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, etc.) was more than just a super-popular Manga, and later Anime series.  It was a game-changer; it did for Manga what Who Framed Roger Rabbit? did for animation–made it cool for fans of all ages, not just the younger ones.

And then there’s Dragon Ball’s Anime versions.  They’ve been referenced in so many other works of animation, it would take the rest of this page to list them all. (My personal favorite is the boss-fight scene in South Park, Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.)

With all that in mind, it’s no surprise that Dragon Ball found its way into the Zootopia Fanart Community on a few occasions. But don’t just take our word for it; scroll down and see for yourself. Enjoy…and don’t forget to show the original artists some love by clicking on the source-links.
