Video: I Put Zootopia On A VHS Tape (By: Skul)

Source

Hello, one and all! Hope you’re having a happy new year! I imagine a lot of you are feeling a bit nostalgic, looking back on the year we’ve had, so I guess now is as good a time as any to reflect on some of the older forms of media that have long since been out of production. There certainly is an appeal to “vintage” media such as this and the fond feelings of nostalgia it conjures up, bringing people back to a bygone era.

That’d certainly be the case for something like VHS tapes, I mean when was the last time you saw a Disney film on VHS that wasn’t more than two decades old? Not like we’d ever be able to find a VHS copy of Zootopia since that movie came out well into the DVD era, not one made by Disney anyway. That hasn’t stopped some of the fandom creators from getting creative, though. Creators like Skul that have taken it upon themselves to turn Zootopia into a VHS with the classic Disney clamshell look and everything. It really manages to emulate the classic VHS feel (and also I imagine the frustration of having to rewind the whole thing when you realize you forgot to do so the last time you watched the tape).

You can check out Skul’s video below or over on YouTube. What do you think of this project? Do you think this kind of conversion to vintage forms of media is something that should be done to Zootopia more often? Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments.
