Things are starting to heat up as the weather does for many of us in the Northern Hemisphere. There are all sorts of bits and pieces of Zootopia news and content dropping all over the place. One of the more interesting developments of late is over in China, where Disney has done quite a few new collaborations. The most recent of which talks about four Zootopia shorts that will be developed alongside Shanghai Fine Art Studios. The new shorts dubbed “Zootopia Day and Night” are slated to come out this November, and it is unclear if there will be translations outside of the main Chinese dialects. Since it is releasing so close to Zootopia 2, there may be a chance that Disney will look to export these shorts, especially if they do well.
The shorts are slated to combine traditional art styles with the iconic Disney style. At a glance, the promotional art seems similar to the ink wash and zeshi styles, while the article itself makes mention of stop motion animation. The prospect of seeing the different characters and stories in different styles is as interesting as it is unique, and we are hoping these make it to streaming platforms outside of China.
