The animal kingdom is an amazing thing. Every creature is unique and amazing in its own way. Adaptation, survival, and ultimately evolution have changed species over the many years that Earth’s ecosystem has forced such changes. Some animals are better at others at the perpetuation of species; otherwise, survival of the fittest would have claimed them at one point or another. But when it comes to Zootopia, some of these adaptations have fallen to the backside for the purpose of continuity.
One character who maintained their evolutionary evolution is Gary De’Snake. In the wild, Pit Vipers have the ability to use infrared vision when they hunt at night. While Gary isn’t quite the hunter anymore, he does, in a sense, use this ability to find what he is looking for. In a recent video put out by Disney Kids, you can get a taste of what this looks like.
