Zootopia 2 was a labor of love, but the key word in that phrase is “labor”. A TON of work went into its creation from hundreds of artists, programmers, animators, and more.
To demonstrate just what went into it, Disney Animation has taken a scene from the beginning, where Nick and Judy race through Sheepshire and hit a cart of wool into a nearby baa-baa shop, and broken it up into its components so that we can see every aspect of the film’s development. Starting at the storyboard, it takes you through the animation process, from visual development, to modeling, to layout and technical animation, and finally how they bring everything together in the final product.
It’s absolutely fascinating, and well worth taking a look at while it’s still up. They change this page periodically based on their most recent film, so while it may be Zootopia 2 for now, it’ll inevitably move on eventually. So check it out- there’s a ton of great details here!
Check it out at Disneyanimation.com!
Furthermore, a behind-the-scenes featurette has appeared too! Thanks again to Zootopia Archive for keeping tabs on all of this- we can’t wait to see more! Hopefully Disney will eventually do a full documentary on the making of Zootopia 2 like they did for the first one. Until then, enjoy what we’ve got!
