Zootopia 2 News and Updates (9/21-9/27)

What a week it has been! We have a lot of news for y’all, so let’s just dive into it, shall we?

First, a brief promo shown before some movies has been released, showing Gary, Judy, Nick, Nibbles, and Clawhauser all enjoying a film with some classic popcorn. It’s fun to see them all interacting like this!

Next, we have official confirmation from Jared Bush who will be playing Finnick in Zootopia 2. As many may remember, his voice actor, Tommy “Tiny” Lister Jr., passed away in 2020, so there had been a lot of speculation as to how Disney was going to handle that once Zootopia 2 was announced. Well, we’re pleased to report that Finnick will be played by… Tommy “Tiny” Lister Jr! Jared Bush stated that “with his family’s blessing, we are so grateful to feature the voice of Tiny Lister, reprising his role as Finnick… working with recordings from the first film”.


He later confirmed that no AI was used, just lines recorded that were never used in the first movie.

We also got a first look at the Zootopia 2 funko pops that are coming soon, if you find those engaging or simply like having a collection.


And finally, Disneyland Shanghai Resort will be celebrating Howl-o-ween again in the new Zootopia land! Nick and Judy will be in full Gazelle and Tigers costume, and the city itself has gotten some new decor to match the season.

All in all, quite week, with more news to come- we’re expecting that the embargo on articles about Zootopia 2 that several journalists got special access to will be lifted sometime in the next few days, so stay tuned to hear what that ended up being like!
