Story: The Redemption of Gideon Grey

[Mystery][Drama][Rated T-13]
Zootopia may be a place where mammals come together and sing kumbayah, but that doesn’t necessarily extend to the rest of the country- especially Bunnyburrow. So, when a previously prey – only festival is desegregated, old conflicts begin flaring up. This is an excellent story that gives Gideon some well-deserved time in the spotlight.

Author: YFWE

Description: Judy and Nick are given a task that seems more like a fun getaway:
providing a little security for the annual Bunnyburrow Fall Harvest
Festival. But things aren’t as peaceful as they may now be in Zootopia,
and the two cops are thrust into a brand new caper – solved with the
help of a certain pastry-baking fox from Judy’s past.

  1. I'm enjoying this fic–nice to see a version of Mr. Grey's back-story (and it's not doing the oddly forced ship of him and Judy…which I find weird–who ARE those people and where did they dream that up??).

  2. I like this story. Gideon Grey was not a character a felt a need to see more of in the movie, but this tale shows that there's reason to explore the character in greater detail, even if it's only in fanfiction.

It's also great to see Judy and Nick interacting with other characters in meaningful ways. While the relationship between them is the emotional core of the movie and materials based on it, so much fanfiction focuses almost exclusively on that, missing out on the possibilities the medium has. Also one of the better romantic setups for the duo (that's a popular subject matter, and a lot of them don't seem to have time to breathe as things progress).
