After months of hard work, the Zootopia Minibang Challenge 2026 has wrapped, and all stories and art have been submitted! First and foremost, we want to give the biggest of applause and thanks to Atocha, who asked if the fandom ever had a challenge like this on the ZNN Discord server and then ran with it to completion. This entire thing was only possible because of the hard work and many hours she put into the challenge, so THANK YOU ATOCHA!
First off, what is a minibang? Many of us had this question the first time Atocha asked if this fandom had ever done one. To put it simply, artists and authors are paired up. The author writes a one-shot with a word limit (6k was ours for this challenge), and the artist will creates a cover for the fic. This was such a blast to participate in, and if you’re looking at this thinking you would like to participate in one sometime, don’t fret! We have plans for more of them coming up, so keep an eye on ZNN for those announcements!

Summary: Nick and Judy get called for a welfare check and find kits, all alone in a run-down apartment with no food. The two, having seen how badly things can go for kits separated from each other and dumped off in group homes do their best to help. Can they find the parents? Should they find the parents? Will the two “stick to the letter of the law?” Or will they compromise and hopefully do some “Scent-sible policing?”

Summary: Nick and Judy go undercover at a charity dinner. Shenanigans ensue.
Summary: Parkour gangs. Perennial pests and the haunts of teenage arboreal and mountain-dwelling miscreants, all too happy to make the city rooftops their playground. A nuisance for many, but when some roof runners start using their skills for more serious crimes, the ZPD needs a new ace up their sleeve to keep up and get to the heart of the matter. An ace with long ears, a fluffy tail, and a talent at throwing herself at every new case. But while Judy Hopps may try everything, keeping up and finding those behind this conspiracy might need some help from a different bunny, one with a whole new attitude that Zootopia’s first bunny cop might not be ready for.
Summary: Needing a suit in a snap, Nick and Judy call upon the best tailor in the city for the job: Nick’s father, John!
