Hello Mammals! I am so happy to announce that we can pull one more box office milestone for Zootopia 2 before we ring in the new year! As of this morning, Zootopia 2 stands at $1.46 Billion, surpassing Frozen 2 to become the highest-grossing Walt Disney Animated Film of all time! On Dec 31 I saw it was closing in on Frozen 2, so I just made up my mind to watch it again and bought another two IMAX tickets. The next morning I woke up and there was this news. Couldn’t be happier!
While Disney themselves absolutely do not deserve it, I’m extremely relieved that Z2 turned out as good as it did. I was heavily dreading this thing coming out for fear Disney would turn it into an absolute dumpster fire like everything else they’ve made since 2016, but thankfully they avoided that and put out a decent movie.
It has its flaws, and I can’t say I understand people saying it’s better than the original, but it’s definitely a solid film, and for that I am very grateful.
