It’s time to look at the box office once again! This time, we’re taking a look at Japan’s box office. Zootopia 2 was released in Japan on Friday, December 5, 2025. The numbers have come in, and Zootopia has made 410 million yen, or about $2.6 million USD. This makes it the largest-ever Western animation film opening, beating out the opening day record of 325.3 million yen (2.09 million USD) set by “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”
Zootopia seems to be smashing through every single box office expectation, and rightly so! We are starting the second Weekend in theaters and are already at a worldwide total of $672,474,037, having made about $60 million worldwide for Friday alone. This makes it the SIXTH highest-grossing film for 2025…after only ONE WEEK. I will continue to keep an eye on the box office, as we continue to watch this film no doubt reach and surpass the billion-dollar mark. Can we hit $2 billion? We can certainly hope!
