OH EM GOODNESS! Is that Gazelle? Angel with horns? Well… close enough! Shakira is officially back in Zootopia 2 as pop icon Gazelle, performing her brand-new song “Zoo.” Hot take: I genuinely like this one even more than Try Everything. “Zoo” was written as a celebration, carrying forward the same themes of unity, joy, and resilience that defined the first film.
In an interview with Variety, Shakira explained:
“We wanted it to have that universal message. These are hectic times, and it’s about stopping and taking a moment to lean on each other and enjoy the moment. Every detail of the song—the writing, the production, the lyrics, and the arrangement—was crafted consciously and carefully. When I’m writing for ‘Zootopia,’ I try to channel Gazelle and think about the message that lives within the movie, and what the song should represent in the film.”
