Last week, Jared Bush, director of Zootopia 2, celebrated the success of the movie with a Q&A session on X. He answered a number of fan questions, providing us with a wealth of extra information to better understand the world and characters.
To start, we got some reasoning on how Judy’s leg was fine after Bellwether’s arrest
jared, I was intrigued by one detail: at the beginning of the film, when Judy talks about her first case, she kicked a door, but how could she have done that if her foot was so badly injured and she couldn’t walk? She doesn’t even have that red bandage on her leg that Nick tied pic.twitter.com/89mW2QdT5f

Now what about Nick’s Apartment?
Money on the wall is from his first scam. Tennis balls, because….🦊

Of course, we also need to talk about Pawbert. Is he redeemable? A very contrivusal question for sure!
That’s a very subjective question. He got pretty murdery… and when offered a different path… he chose to double down.

And a little more background on how far thought out Pawberts plan really was.
What I love is that Pawbert has to improvise after Judy and Nick start messing with his plans. Why are they at the gala? He doesn’t know. But he needs to find out, hence the bump and everything he talks to her about. 😬

Another good question about the meaning of the word Zoo in Zootopia
The word “Zoo” comes from Ancient Greek, and refers to “animal” – not a zoo as in a place you would visit today. In other words, “Zootopia” is a play on words for “animal utopia” – or our European version Zootropolis – which is a play on “animal metropolis.”

We also get to see a bit of Jared’s childhood, and one of the coolest photos I think he could have possibly flexed on us with.
Dying to finally visit Outback Island. Been trying to go there since the first film. Also… I lived in Australia as a kid, and had a rescued baby kangaroo as a pet. The receipts: pic.twitter.com/nsTxnmzoQj

As we are well aware, the movie is jam packed with easter eggs. This is one I didn’t catch, but in hindsight is amazing!
Love that someone spotted my favorite Lonely Island Easter egg – both Jenny Slate and Andy Samberg had nefarious plans to… throw Judy on the ground!!! #Zootopia2 pic.twitter.com/I2hP16ptz6

And of course we can’t forget that Jared is a bit of a troll himself.
They’re more fun.

And finally, a small sneak peek at Zootopia 3!
