Zootopia wins Two Golden Tomatoes, Nominated for BAFTA Awards, and gets some kind words from Loki!

Now that my team is done embarrassing me on my own site, let’s get to some ACTUAL news, shall we?

Zootopia has claimed not one, but TWO Golden Tomato Awards from RottenTomatoes.com, which is their award for the highest rated movies of the year.  Zootopia won for both Best Wide Release of 2016 (an incredible accomplishment), and for Best Animated Movie of 2016.  With an adjusted score of 106.746{fc17e15ed6c8f701884a899a735d4ed94fc8cfa66fc2f404dd33f42f9afeb7a1} approval (I’m not exactly sure how the math works for this), it’s hard to find another movie that good.

Except Inside Out.  That had an adjusted score of 110.057{fc17e15ed6c8f701884a899a735d4ed94fc8cfa66fc2f404dd33f42f9afeb7a1}.  But that’s the only other animated movie to do so, and quite frankly, that is some exceptional company for zootopia to be in.

In other news, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards are coming up soon.  It comes as little surprise that Zootropolis Zootopia has been nominated for Best Animated Film, along with Moana, Kubo and the Two Strings, and Finding Dory.  I have high hopes for this, as so far Zootopia has taken the awards world by storm.

In preparation for this awards show, the BAFTA Los Angeles youtube channel released a little interview they did with multiple celebrities, asking them what the first film they remember ever seeing was.  Tom Hiddleston in particular had something interesting to say that I think you will all enjoy.

“The first movie I remember seeing in a movie theater is Disney’s The Fox and The Hound.  Left me weeping, uncontrollably actually.
“… Incredibly sad that the fox and the hound couldn’t be friends forever.  But that balance has been redressed, with Zootopia, where foxes and rabbits can live in the same place!  That’s how far we’ve come.”

Always cool to see celebrity praise for our favorite film!  If Disney were to cast Hiddleston in Zootopia 2 (whenever they announce that), I for one would be totally cool with that!

Check out the full video interview after the break!

  1. Hiddleston playing in Zootopia 2?

    I can see that happening.

After all, he's entered into multiple contracts with Marvel Studios, which we all know belongs to Disney.

It will be a wonderful full circle for Tom, a really decent man.
