Shanghai Disneyland’s Zootopia Land Just Installed Its First Vertical Steel Column

It’s happening!

According to the Twitter account @DMK_Blog (Disney Magical Kingdom Blog), the first steel column was installed at Shanghai Disneyland’s in-the-works Zootopia-themed land.

Though the land has been under construction for a few months now, today (June 8) marks the first portion of the project that involves vertical construction.

Only up from here, right?

Still no official opening date announced for the land, but with the park at large again open to the public and construction seemingly resuming in full force, here’s hoping more information about a timeline is on its way. So we can all coordinate when to rush the gates as a unit.

  1. So it truly begins. I can’t wait to see the end result, but I hope they bring some of the attractions to American Disney Parks. I could go for a scoop at Jumbeaux’s Cafe. Or better yet, redesign Autotopia to an indoor Zootopia police chase ride. Too many possibilities.
