As tempted as I am to make a joke using the Weird Al song “Virus Alert,” this is actually serious business, so listen up!  ~Andy Lagopus

Lucario389 here to inform you that there has been a security breach on the site Fanfiction.net, which you can read all about here.

Until such a time as the situation is resolved, we STRONGLY advise everyone to not click on user profiles, as that is how they gain access to other accounts.

The reason we are telling you this is because that we have a featured many, many stories (356 to be exact) and wish to do our best to keep our fans informed about harmful things when we can.  It’s no fun when someone ruins your reading because of some serious issues on a site you go to to read fanfiction of any kind  – from fluff, to danger, to romance, to adventure, to dark realism and everything in between.  Many of the stories we’ve featured are hosted on Fanfiction.net, so we figured we ought to give you a heads up!

This is Lucario389 telling you to stay safe and Try Everything!

  1. FF just posted an update on their Twitter account:

We have plugged the current known attack vector which combined csrf attacks with a html injection bug within the user profile page when access via a web browser. App users are not effected. A security review of the entire system is underway.

So, they're saying it's safe to go back into the water. 😉
