The Christmas truce is over, and although Nick, Judy and the mammals under their commands had a wondrous time bonding together, they now have to face the repercussions of their actions, benevolent as they were. “The Spirit of War” finds us back in the middle of the action, both on the home front for Judy and the war front for Nick. LapisLucius42 succeeds in writing an excellent sequel that tugs at the heartstrings with ease, the focal point of the story being the longing our rabbit and fox have for the other, separated by many miles. War is a fickle thing though, and who knows, maybe they’re destined to meet again. Dramatic, poignant, and filled with piercing angst. ~DrummerMax64
World War I changed how soldiers fought and expanded the role of civilians. The Great War brought Judy and Nick together, and it can reunite them. But can they survive its carnage?
