Comic: Black Jack, Part 7 and 8 — Inspection and GRAND FINALE (by Rem289 and AoiMotion)

The FINALE is upon us, along with our (lately reported) part 7 of the comic Inspection!

In chapter seven, we meet a new character named Zac, a cat who has such a nice and cute flirtatious attitude with a great stealth and comical personality! We also see Cynthia at Jack’s apartment, along with Zac; who was trying to check out the apartment for Jack. However, Cynthia follows along and has made a little mini investigation on Jack trying to figure out why Jack was sent on a mission alone. (Seriously, you don’t want to mess with her.)

However, the grand finale. WOOF. It’s a big one, covering most of what we all were waiting and wanting for, from Jack going into his mission to Nick and Jack’s final interaction and clearing things up, as well as a very satisfying ending to the amazing 2-year-old comic!

I don’t want to spoil too much, though; you just gotta read it for yourself. Rem289 and AoiMotion really out did themselves this time. (And together they are AoiRem2816!)

Read the ENTIRETY of “Inspection” and “Grand Final” here right after the break. You can even check out the full comic (in high definition!) by following these links to their Tumblr and Deviantart! Show some love!

  1. I can't really say I found the ending to be very satisfying. While is was certainly nice to see Nick and Judy finally get their kiss, the comic left so many story elements unresolved that it was too frustrating to be satisfying.

Except for a vague implication that tame collars were somehow involved, "the mission" was never explained, nor why the GSD needed to train a team of ZPD officers to help. We never learn: why Jack went to the building the day before "the mission" or what happened to blow it up, or why Jack's apartment was raided and what they were looking for, or why Cynthia and Jack's relationship is so antagonistic, or… I could go on but you see my point.

Ultimately, I have the greatest admiration for Rem289's art. She is, in my opinion, one of the best Zooptopia fan-artists that I've seen. However, AoiRem2816's combined skill of telling a story longer than a few pages really needs work. "Black-Jack" was a jumbled tale with a narrative that went all over the place and came to an awkward ending that felt like the story was just sorta abandoned. Nick and Judy kissing wasn't enough, for me, to make the ending feel satisfying.

  2. This story needs an epilogue. why the secret doesn't revealed? More secret.. this some times make differences between a good story and a bad story.
