Wrapping Up the Oscars, Part 1- The Speech and the Tweets!

Original art by Zigrock, video composition by Danny Grey

Last night was simply spectacular.  As we all know by now, Zootopia took the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and we couldn’t be happier!  Years of work went into this movie, and we’ve been cheering for it ever since it released in March of 2016.  And now, almost exactly a year later, Zootopia claims the highest award it could receive from the film industry at large.  It’s truly an astounding honor, and we are so grateful to all the hundreds of people who dedicated their time and effort to making it a reality.

Bravo, Disney.  Bravo!

So, as the first part of our post-oscars wrap-up, we have, for those of you who missed it, the acceptance speech!  Sure, it’s prefaced by a lame political statement that has literally nothing to do with animation (I mean, really?  You spend a minute going on about how you’re against any wall to divide flesh-and-blood actors as our introduction for best animated feature, then cut them off the winners while they’re saying their thank-yous?  Rude.) but the acceptance speech itself is absolutely something to watch, if you haven’t already.

So check that out after the break, along with a tweet of Ginnifer Goodwin and her husband (who we know as Frantic Pig in Zootopia) with the Oscars!  And again, Congratulations!

  1. Congratulations Zootopia! I don't follow most of these big awards shows but I was looking around last night afterward to get confirmation one way or another because I had to know for this one. So glad it came through with a win 🙂
But yeah, really? Can we cut out the politico-ideal crap and focus on the awards instead?
