In two weeks, Zootopia will celebrate the one-year anniversary of its release.
Just take a second and let that sink in. It has almost been a full year since this marvelous piece of cinema was put on display for the world to see. In that time, it has become the second animated film to ever top $1 Billion in the box office, has won more awards than we can count, and, most importantly, has inspired us all.
The community that has grown around this single movie is as creative as they get. Thousands upon thousands of you have been motivated to draw the characters, write stories, make videos, and a whole host of other activities. Even now, ZNN still gets dozens of submissions every week from you guys, with new content for us to share with the world.
I'm so grateful to you all. But I'm even more grateful to the hundreds of men and women at Walt Disney Animation Studios who dedicated years of their lives to bringing us this masterpiece. And I'm not talking just about the directors, writers, and voice actors- though they all did an absolutely phenomenal job, and were essential to making the movie happen.
No, I'm talking about the unsung heroes of the film industry. The artists who spend their days modeling, coding, rendering, sketching, recording foley, and a whole host of other activities that bring the movie into existence. The marketers, the managers, the lawyers, the producers... everyone who got credited at the end of the movie played a part in bringing us something that has touched so many of us in so many different ways.
And they all deserve our praise and thanks just as much as Rich Moore and Byron Howard.
So, to that end, we are opening a special form, which will be open for one week, where you can share how Zootopia impacted you, and why you love it so much. Your responses will be printed on postcards and delivered to Disney, where, on March 4th, they will then be distributed to each and every person who worked on the movie.
- Your response must be less than or equal to 250 words
- Keep your message positive
- Provide a name for a "signature". This doesn't have to be your full name, but either a first name or a username will be required
Find the form here, and we look forward to sharing your love with the people who so heartily deserve our praise!
