Film Awards Season begins, and Zootopia is doing fantastic!

It’s that time of year!  The time where filmmakers pat each other on the back and decide whose film reigns supreme in their respective categories.  I’ve never really cared too much about awards season in the past, mainly because I never had a single movie that I was rooting for.  Now, though, things are different!

Above, you can see pictures of Rich Moore and Byron Howard accepting the Hollywood Film Award for Animation, which was shared by Byron over on twitter!

But that’s not the only trophy Zootopia has earned so far!  Just a few days ago, Zootropolis took home two awards from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA)- Best Children’s Feature Film in 2016, and the Children’s Choice Award!

And as if that weren’t enough, Disney is currently making ads for Variety Magazine, promoting Zootopia for the Oscars!  If all goes right, we just might see Zootopia nominated in five different categories at the Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Animated Feature, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song.  I can only imagine how amazing it would be for Zootopia to win all of them, but given the state of movies this year… well, it’s actually a lot more likely than most years.  Movies have been kinda meh in 2016, in my opinon.  With some exceptions, of course.

Finally, Zootopia and its voice actors have been submitted for multiple potential awards for the People’s Choice Awards!  These include Favorite Movie, Favorite Animated Movie Voice (for both Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman) and Favorite Family Movie!  Be sure to go over to their site and vote!

Let’s hope that Zootopia can finally break the Curse of the Academy and win Best Picture!  That would certainly be a triumph for animation!

Check out some sweet images of the “For Your Consideration” pamphlets (courtesy of u/Rarietty) after the break!

  1. I would think it would probably be favored for Best Animated Feature Oscar. Best Picture would be a bit much to ask, though. A nomination there would be quite impressive.

    • Agreed that "Best Picture" would be a stretch, but "Best Original Screenplay" is a possibility as Zootopia is the second highest-grossing original film of all time. ("original" meaning it wasn't adapted from another source, is not part of franchise, is not a sequel).

  2. I'm kind of hoping that it will get Best Picture, as I believe it would be the first animated film to earn that award, and that would be a momentous occasion. And kind of a message as well since then the movie, which its theme was of treating everyone well and helping others, is so pertinent in today's society.

    • uhhh….no. "Beauty and the Beast" made history for the being the first animated film to be *Nominated* for the Best Picture academy award but it did not win. That year Best Picture went to "Silence of the Lambs"

  3. Hey! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having problems finding one? Thanks a lot! 123movies series
